SERVE
OUR CHURCH, COMMUNITY AND WORLD
SERVING CHRIST
... by making disciples and bringing others into fellowship with Christ through SERVICE.
Why is SERVICE important at OBUMC?
Old Bridge Church is known for SERVICE in the community. Check out some of our mission projects and our Missions & Outreach Calendar, and connect with opportunities to serve Christ and neighbors in our community.
"Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me."
(Matthew 25:45b)
Food Giveaway
In an effort to meet the needs in a more challenged neighborhood, Old Bridge developed community partnerships and teams of volunteers to go and serve our neighbors across town at Cokesbury Church along Route 1. Our Monthly Food giveaway has consistently provided literally tons of food and needed household items.
Salvation Army Bell Ringing
Each Christmas season the folks at Old Bridge Church support our local Salvation Army through service as bell ringers with a challenge to fill the red kettle though donations. Over the years this has been tremendously fruitful in supporting such a worthwhile cause and is a great time to meet, greet, and serve our neighbors in the community.
Rise Against Hunger
This yearly mission project has provided an opportunity for the people of every age to serve others by creating tens of thousands of food packs on a mission day. Old Bridge is in this mission partnership through a semi yearly event, in order to be more faithful to our missional DNA!
ACTS
ACTS stands for Action in Community Through Service and Old Bridge Church is proud to be a supporting partner in this ministry to families in Prince William County. Through a dedicated group of volunteers we support ACTS through ongoing weekly food drives, clothing & financial support.
Homeless Shelter Meal Drive
On a monthly basis during the normal seasons, and in an increased frequency during the winter time, Old Bridge brings meals to homeless shelters in the community, including Hilder Barg. During winter, we also support the Hytophermia shelter ministries.
KAIROS Support
Kairos is a ministry in prison. Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. (Kairos) is a lay-led, interdenominational Christian ministry in which men and women volunteers bring Christ's love and forgiveness to prisoners and their families. For more information, click here.
Summer Mission Trips
Old Bridge sends several teams of mission groups to places within the States and/or in our global community, such as Guatemala. By fixing houses, building fire place, and sharing household items, we create a rhythm of service during the summer time!
